geese in the forest

Dec 31, 2009 10:14am

Here's my last finish of the year. It combined two of my wip's....geese in the forest and tokyo's triangles...which is handy. :)The center panel is made up of the 12 blocks I managed to make for Anina's quilt along. The top and bottom borders were made from flying geese triangles...

Dec 29, 2009 9:00am

These two quilts were finished much earlier in the year. I have to blog about them before the end of the year so I can link to the quilts on the list in my sidebar, and so I can include them in my end of the year flickr mosaic. :)Both...

Dec 26, 2009 2:57pm

This quilt was inspired by the photo in this post. When I saw it, I knew I just HAD to make a color wheel quilt. I whipped the quilt top up for a sample for the retreat, because I thought it would be a good scrap quilt idea to share....

do you know how many charm squares make a king size quilt? 483.do you know how many hours it takes to sew them together?neither do I. I started sewing these together at the retreat in the beginning of November. It seemed to take for-ever.The fabric is simplicity by Moda. I...

a few finishes

Dec 15, 2009 10:45am

Man, it's hard to blog this time of the year, isn't it? I haven't been making any top secret presents or anything, just plain busy.I have managed to get a few things done....(between shoveling my driveway countless times-or so it feels)I made another ruffle edged scarf. Ravelry link here. Yes,...

how to calculate quilt measurements

Dec 10, 2009 8:30am

Math is a huge part of quilting, like it or not. I'm not particularly fond of math, but it's a necessity, especially since I rarely use a pattern.I get emails all the time asking questions like:"I'd like to make a twin size quilt out of charm packs. How many squares...

quilting

Dec 7, 2009 12:45pm

I finally started quilting my 9 patch quilt yesterday. I did a few practice doodles before starting on the real quilt. I usually practice with fabric that is not pieced, but recently, I have discovered that I like to try a new quilting technique on a pieced block because it...

baby filmstrip

Dec 1, 2009 8:22am

I really like to make baby quilts. You wouldn't know it by the frequency of which I make them, but man, they are fun. You don't have to piece backing. Basting is easier. Quilting is easier. It's all good. This little quilt is a commissioned quilt for a woman who is...

i'm in deep

Nov 25, 2009 10:22am

My husband has a phase that he uses whenever we are in the midst of a big project. "It's got to get worse before it gets better." That's how I'm feeling about my WIP's. I signed up for Jacquie's challenge with 19. As it stands now, I have 18 wips....

using it all

Nov 12, 2009 9:27am

I love using up every last bit of fabric whenever I can. It has become a sort of personal challenge for me. Or you could say that I'm learning to fully embrace my craziness. :) This includes using the leftover triangles that you trim when you join binding strips* together....
