I bought the bike about 6 weeks ago, so I am writing this review after having some experience with the bike and the app. Assembly was straight forward and moving the bike to its place in my bedroom was easy. I was a bit worried that a bike with such a small footprint (2x4 ft) would be unsteady but I was pleasantly surprised how sturdy it is.
When it was finally time to plug it in, I downloaded and installed the free app, connected the Bluetooth and opened an account in the app. So I was ready to ride! Now came the only issue I had with the app. Where to begin? I was hoping to see a “begin here” section or something like that but did not. There was a cycling power test on the front page so I tried that. I hadn’t ridden a bike in years so it was like starting over. The test was very difficult for a newbie and I was forced to quit just a few minutes into it. Bad place to start.
After looking around within the app, I found various workouts in a group like setting, ranked from easy to hard. There are also power workouts. I also found 6 road courses and 5 race courses (in the race courses you race against 6 computer opponents). All 11 courses are again ranked from easy to hard. I really enjoy these courses the most. Hopefully Renpho will add more in the future. I believe there are about 75 total workouts/courses within the app.
The key differentiator to me between the Renpho and other bikes is the free app (and of course, price). Other bikes either don’t offer an app or you have to subscribe to a third party app, like Peleton. The Renpho also supports several third party subscription apps if you get bored with the offerings in the Renpho app.
As for the bike itself, it is very quiet. My ceiling fan makes more noise than the Renpho. And after you download the various courses to your phone or tablet, all connections and pages quickly open.
So overall, this ended up being a great decision for me. A wonderful bike for about 25% of the cost of a Peleton and a free app. And no monthly app subscriptions. The best of both worlds. If you are looking for a great cardio workout in the privacy of your own home, this is the answer.
Update: I had an issue with a course on the AI Gym app and Renpho got back to me in less than 24 hours on a holiday weekend. Totally unexpected. And they were able to rectify my issue. With I could give more than 5 stars. 👍👍
This bike is very practical indoor sports equipment and easy to assemble. The bike is SUPER STURDY and small enough to fit in the back of our closet. When we need it, we can just wheel it out into the bedroom and cycle in front of the TV. I can watch a few shows and catch up on episodes while riding. The bike seat feels comfortable the whole time. It feels better than a normal, hard bike seat which is a huge plus for me because I don’t feel any soreness from sitting for too long. It is excellent that the seat and handlebars are fully adjustable for a tall man like my husband. Changing the seat and handlebars is entirely simple, no screws needed.
Another advantage of this bike is the Al Gym App! It connects to the iPad while he rides so that he can follow his training program. There are a bunch of different training types he can choose from. Now he is working on his custom FTP Training Course. Either way, all of the App content is TRULY FREE no matter if it is him or I use it. Such good value for all of the features added on. Even the scenic rides are free too. And they are wonderful to workout with when I have nothing else on for TV.
The only function we haven’t tried yet is the game playability. We heard that you can race others in live time, which sounds neat but a bit intimidating for now. I think we will try to get in better shape first before racing anybody else. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about the bike at all.
Pros: Connects to popular cycling apps and saves ride stats to your phone (need to use Strava for some apps like Zwift since it doesn't connect to Apple Health), pretty comfortable to bike on/nice seat and customizable seat and handle height, bike/electronics seem really sturdy, no issues with bluetooth connectivity (no drops or lags), Renpho app is free and is really nicely designed (no issues with connectivity in the app), really liked the sticky pad for your ipad/phone, easy to set resistance with turn dial on handle, the bike design is nice, liked that you can use your apple watch as a HR monitor (for Zwift and the Renpho app), auto resistance is good
Cons: DO NOT BUY IF ZWIFT IS A MAJOR FACTOR IN YOUR PURCHASE! Using this bike in Zwift is not great. You could be cycling 100 rpms at a resistance of 5 and your avatar still moves incredibly slow which does not reflect real life cycling. The bike does have automatic resistance in Zwift so it's ok if you just want to do the courses and do not care about the competitive aspect. There were no issues in moving your avatar in the video rides like Fulgaz. You cannot comfortably stand and pedal on this bike. Some reviewers have stated that they can stand and pedal but it feels like pushing the pedals while your bicycle is in thick mud. It's not very comfortable and it hurt my knees to do so even when I was leaning on the handles. Longevity might be a factor since all the cycle programs are in the app. If you have no ability to use apps, you are just stuck with a really basic exercise bike.
I would recommend this bike to someone who wants a nice upright bike with built in sensors and that wants it to track ride stats in their phone and want to do the "ride bike trails around the world" apps with auto resistance. I would not recommend this bike to Zwift users or Peloton users (since you can't stand and pedal). Auto resistance does not work in Peloton app (which is a given since they would not want competition with their Peloton+ bike)

I have hooked it up to both my iPhone and my iPad air and both have worked wonderfully and seamlessly. The app in concert with the bike have changed the in-home workout experience so much that I actually look forward to it. The way it changes to personalize the riding experience to you is so cool to have on a bike at this price point and so its always presenting a challenge to meet if you want it to without having to drum up some optimized routine on your own. Basically, it just works which is something that I am valuing a lot more.
Because of the pandemic, probably like a lot of people, I have had little access to exercise equipment and my knees just can’t take the stress of walking/jogging so something that is impact free is necessary if I want to keep at it. My old (outdoor) bike doesn’t really work so well and isn’t safe anymore so rather than fixing it or buying a new one, I opted to try out the in-home exercise bike option. After looking around a bit, I found this Renpho one and have always really liked their stuff for how inexpensive it is for the quality of it. This bike doesn’t disappoint either! It has a small footprint, is easy to move around and store, and actually looks really nice! Most other bikes seem to have excess details, colours, and fins or something that I always thought looked ugly but this one keeps it simple and clean which is great for a more modern design aesthetic and it blends into the space really well. Literally no one else seems to have gotten this right.
The riding experience is also really fantastic! It has all the adjustments necessary to get the right fit for I think anyone. Im 6’ tall and my girlfriend is 5’4 and we both fit on it easily after 10 seconds worth adjustments. You can adjust the seat height, the handlebar height, how far forward/back the seat is, and the seat tilt. If you don’t like the seat or pedals, it uses standard bike parts so you can switch those out to whatever you have or want. It goes from incredibly low resistance to very difficult - like trudging a bike up a steep muddy hill - so there is always a right resistance to hit the cadence I need depending on what kind of workout I’m looking for.
I love that it doesn’t have a large low-quality screen taking up space and making it more expensive and break-prone than necessary. We all have plenty of screens that we can use with it anyways, so the screen platform is perfect and my phone and iPad haven’t ever come close to slipping off. The single simple dial is all you really need. Its stable, and surprisingly quiet and the pedal action is the first I’ve felt that I like this much. Its actually like riding a bike outdoors on a smooth road while other exercise bikes that I tried have a more artificial feel that you know if you've had to deal with it.
In the end, exercise equipment is only good if it helps you get in shape. I have to say that having this has motivated me to put in at least a few minutes every day to keep up my cardio health, and I find myself spending a lot more time on it than I even thought I would because its so easy to hop on and off whenever you have a few spare min.
I’ve lost a bit of weight, yes, but I’m not particularly overweight, so for the most part, I just feel much better mentally and physically since I’ve been using it. I can definitely say its helped my motivation and energy and its nice to know I can exercise while catching some news or watching a tv show or even a movie.
This bike punches way above its price point and I only wish I had gotten it earlier.

I had a Pro Form Smart Power 10.0 before this. Almost twice as expensive. What a rip off that turned out to be. While researching you probably think, god those Peleton’s are expensive. No way I’m spending above £1000. It would be good to have smart resistance since the bike will last longer. I like the idea of the live lessons to keep me interested etc etc. Then you’ll end up on a bike around the £800-£1000 range. Likely the Pro Form. You realise quickly that the resistance doesn’t match the classes, so it defeats the purpose. The leaderboards are all hacked. The handlebars are so low down and the seat is like a rock, so the riding experience is really uncomfortable (I’m 6ft). Then the bike starts squeaking and you go through half a year with an unusable bike, while the parts are out of stock. Then the £1000 price point comes back to haunt you. Every time you walk past it you think jeez I’ve really wasted my money. You finally get back on it and you realise the operating system has slowed down, because the hardware means it’s best days are in the first few months and it goes downhill from there. Now you’re waiting 10 seconds after every click to get to the next screen. Overall, so much frustration. Thankfully I got a refund.
So long story short, don’t waste your time or money! Go for the Renpho. If you’re in the market for an exercise bike, you probably want a product that’s sturdy, comfortable, has smart resistance (to keep you honest with the workouts), has a variety of classes and importantly, allows you to measure your progress. Ticks all around. It works from an app, so you don’t have to worry about the hardware slowing down. There are loads of workouts and classes. You can even do a FTP every so often to measure your progress. Definitely a USP. Personally, I also like the freewheel since it gives you a real cycling feel.
10/10 for me, especially when you consider the price point.
